Where It All Began

Graham's tv career started accidentally while backpacking with buddies for a year after high school. He was hired to be a driver at the Sydney, Olympics by CBC Sports.  Two international sporting events later as a local hire for CBC, he realized the tv industry was for him.  Travel all over the world- pay for your own flights, find your own accommodation and no per diem...  You've got yourself a deal!

In 2002, he enrolled in the Radio and Television Broadcasting program at Mount Royal College in Calgary.  Graham received his diploma and interned at TSN Sportscentre in Toronto for four months.  The mountains were calling, so he returned to Calgary to continue freelancing as a utility.  After learning the ropes as a utility for several years he started getting calls to do camera.  Camera led to netcams, which led to robo, which led to the birth of Nomadic in 2012.

Nomadic Cameras Inc. was born in Calgary the summer of 2012.  After freelancing as a broadcast television camera operator for several years under a different company name (may Room & Board Productions rest in peace),  the owner- Graham Budd decided to start a camera rental company.

The first year Nomadic secured a contract with the Calgary Flames in the lockout shortened NHL season to supply and operate netcams.  To fulfill the contract, Nomadic leased a Netcam kit from Fletcher in Chicago.  Following a successful first contract with the Flames, Nomadic purchased Netcams directly from the Manufacturer (BR Remote) in the UK.  This decision led Graham to understand what bank loans and stress felt like.

Two years later in 2015, Nomadic bought their first Sony P1 robo camera kit.  Over the next decade Nomadic equipment rental inventory expanded to include wireless camera links, Rattlers, POV cameras, Netcams, 4K robo equipment, various Canon lenses, monitors, media converters, single mode fibre and countless accessories.  Nomadic started out specializing in ice hockey and grew to supply equipment for Equestrian, Rodeo, CFL Football, Volleyball, IIHF & NHL, Lacrosse, Baseball, Curling, E sports, snow sports and Triathlons.
